A Fresh Start

Today marked my first day at RevBuilders. My name is Becky and I am an intern with RevBuilders for the summer. I am majoring in Communications with a specialization in Advertising and Public Relations at Liberty University and will be a senior in the fall.

I will be writing daily, updating you with what I’ve been working on throughout the day and what I am currently learning. Being an intern means that I have a lot to learn. This also means that both positive and negative feedback is appreciated. I would love to learn not only from RevBuilders employees, but from clients, friends, and readers as well.

I was excited yet a little nervous to jump into the fast paced environment today. I started the morning by filling out basic paperwork and working out logistics of my hours for the next six weeks. Then I received my to-do list for the summer. The items included, writing press releases, organizing and speaking with press contacts, content writing, managing social media, working on projects as needed, and blogging.

After I met with Scot and Tamara, I worked to familiarize myself with all of the programs they use to keep themselves organized. I don’t feel very organized at the moment, but I’m sure that as I learn the programs, they will indeed do their jobs and help me out.

I’ve been assigning content writing to our different writers today and giving them the background and information they need to write their assignments. I never knew that RevBuilders consisted of professionals from all over the world.

I am currently working on writing a press release about RevBuilders’ role in the relaunch of Green Guard’s website. Green Guard is a pest control company out of Boise, ID. The new site has an updated design with multiple pages and links designed especially for SEO.

The day has gone well and I am eager to see what I can contribute as I become more familiar with RevBuilders and their clients.

It may sound kind of nerdy, but I am excited to be able to put into practice what I have been learning over the past several years. After all, isn’t that what an internship is for, to gain real world experience of the things taught in school?

With that being said, if you have any input about what I’m learning, please feel free to comment and let me know your thoughts.

It was awesome to have you in the office yesterday! You are very quick to learn and grasp my ramblings. I’m excited to see how the rest of the summer goes. Are you sure you can only stay for the summer? Thanks for all your help!
